Employment Support Scheme
Government will provide wage subsidy to eligible employers to retain their employees, employers have to undertake that they cannot implement redundancy. All employers who have been making Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) contributions for employees are eligible. Except employees of the HKSARG, statutory bodies, and Government subvented organisations. The subsidy amount is 50% of monthly salary capped at $18,000, for period of six months.
Supporting the Unemployed
Temporarily relax the asset limit of Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme, providing time-limited unemployment support. The asset limit for able-bodied applicants will be increased by 100% for six months.
Easing the Cash Flow and Burden of Businesses and Individuals
1. Enhancing the SME Financing Guarantee Scheme
To introduce enhancement to the 80%, 90%, and Special 100% Guarantee Products under the SME Financing Guarantee Scheme.
2. Rental and Fee Concessions for Government Premises
Increasing rental concessions for eligible businesses / organisations operating in government premises from 50% to 75% from April to September 2020.
3a. MTRCL Fare Reduction
MTRCRL to provide 20% fare reduction, for period of six months between 01 July 2020 to 01 January 2021.
3b. Expense Threshold of Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme (PTFSS)
Temporarily relax the monthly public transport expense threshold of the PTFSS from $400 to $200 for period of July 2020 to December 2020.
4. To grant one-off interest-free deferral of loan repayment for two years to self-financing post-secondary institutions under the Start-up Loan Scheme, non-profit-making international schools and students receiving loans from the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency (WFSFAA)
5. Deadline for payment of tax for year of assessment 2018/19 will be automatically extended for three months.
